Studentships

Please note that the competitions for Cambridge sources of funding have now closed for entry in 2013-14. The final deadline for applications for admission is 30th June 2013, but you will be required to find your own external funding.

This page lists any studentships the Department currently has in its gift. For the deadlines of Cambridge-wide funding competitions, please refer to the following webpage:

Alternatively, the Cambridge Funding Search might be helpful for finding other sources of Cambridge funding, and some may also be interested in the Peter Scott Studentship for Research in Conservation Biology offered by Trinity College, which has a deadline of 25th January 2013 for entry in 2013-14.

NERC

We are able to offer two fully-funded 3.5 year NERC PhD studentships, beginning in October 2013, to a UK or EU student who meets the UK residency requirements.

In order to be considered you must have applied for admission to the Department via the online GRADSAF by the 11th January 2013, and be applying to do a PhD in the department within the NERC remit. Members of our academic staff with current or historic NERC research funding, who might potentially supervise you, are as follows:

Dr David Aldridge
Prof William Amos
Dr Rob Asher
Prof Andrew Balmford
Prof Paul Brakefield
Dr Michael Brooke
Prof Tim Clutton-Brock
Prof Nick Davies
Dr Walter Federle
Dr William Foster
Prof Rhys Green
Dr Chris Jiggins
Dr Rufus Johnstone
Dr Rebecca Kilner
Dr Andrea Manica
Dr Nick Mundy
Dr Richard Preece
Dr Claire Spottiswoode
Prof William Sutherland

Please see our How to apply page for the usual steps to follow for admission (but please note that there is no preliminary application process for these studentships, so once a member of our staff has agreed to supervise you, you should proceed directly to Section B.)

All eligible candidates who have applied by the deadline will be considered for an award. Interviewing of shortlisted applicants will take place on 26th February 2013.

BBSRC DTP

The Department is a member of the University of Cambridge's BBSRC DTP, but applications for October 2013 have now closed (the deadline was 4th December 2012).
