Graduate representatives
The job of the grad reps is to represent graduate students' views in departmental meetings, to help you with any problems you might have, and to organise social events to get everyone mingling!
For more information contact: Kirsty Macleod (kjm54 [at] cam.ac.uk), Simon Martin (shm45 [at] cam.ac.uk) or Chris Kozak (kk443 [at] cam.ac.uk).
Graduate chairman
Dr Howard Baylis (h.baylis [at] zoo.cam.ac.uk, tel ext. 36630) is the chair of the Departmental Graduate Education Committee. You are welcome to approach him at any time to discuss, in confidence, topics directly related to your own PhD or of a more general nature. You can contact him directly or arrange a meeting through Linda Wheatley.
Graduate secretary
Linda Wheatley (l.wheatley [at] zoo.cam.ac.uk, tel. ext. 36647) is always the first port of call for graduate students who have any questions about their studies (reports, funding, graduate courses, etc.) because she knows everything or she'll know who does!
Uncle and auntie
The uncle and auntie provide support to any student that feels that the problems they face cannot be discussed with the supervisor and advisors, or if they simply want to talk things over.
For more information contact: Pat Simpson (pas49 [at] cam.ac.uk, tel. ext. 36669) or Richard Preece (rcp1001 [at] cam.ac.uk, tel. ext. 36666).

Purchasing Office
The Purchasing Office deals with all the orders made in the department. If you have to order something yourself, there is useful information here or you can contact Laura Everitt (zoopurchase [at] zoo.cam.ac.uk, tel ext. 36636) or Olga Sands (zoopurchase [at] zoo.cam.ac.uk, tel. ext. 36636) with any queries.

Library
You will need to know how to navigate your way around the Cambridge libraries system to find those essential journal articles, theses, and books, many thousands of which are available online. The Zoology library itself is a lovely, quiet place to work in and you can bring your laptop to use the Lapwing wireless network to access all the individual online library resources available.
For support with all your information needs contact the Librarian, Clair Castle, or the Assistant Librarian, Jane Acred, on tel. ext. 36618 or by email at library [at] zoo.cam.ac.uk.
Safety Officer
Barrie Fuller (bf202 [at] cam.ac.uk, tel. ext. 63433) is the Chemical Safety Officer and will tell you all you need to know about filling in COSHH forms, finding MSDS and the disposal of hazardous chemicals. Check with your group first if there is someone in charge of health and safety, and they'll explain all you need to know.
Workshop
For those of you who will need to build specialised pieces of equipment, you'll need to contact Steve Ellis (sje29 [at] zoo.cam.ac.uk, tel. ext. 34389). The worskhop is well equipped and Steve has got the expertise to make anything you might need. More information available here.
