Welcome to our website
We are a group of researchers based at the Museum of Zoology (under Dept. of Zoology), Cambridge University, headed by Paul Brakefield. Our research is on mycalesine butterflies (fam: Nymphalidae: subfam: Satyrinae) subtending various aspects of their ecology and evolution including systematics, genetics, evo-devo, secondary sexual characters and host plants. These butterflies comprise a radiation of ca. 270 species in the Old World tropics, and our aim is to shed light on patterns and processes of speciation in this group.
