Social Evolution

Social evolution describes the evolutionary consequences of interactions between individuals, whether they are relatives or unrelated members of the same species or individuals from different species. We are particularly interested in identifying conditions that result in cooperative interactions between unrelated individuals or conflict between relatives. We work on a diversity of species including Hihi in New Zealand and the local burying beetle population in Cambridge.
