The Burrows Group: Insect Neurobiology

People in the group

Malcolm Burrows

Malcolm Burrows

Malcolm Burrows is the head of the group. He works on the cellular and network properties of neurons to understand how they control behaviour in three aspects: motor control; phenotypic plasticity and fast movements.

Swidbert Ott

Swidbert Ott

Swidbert Ott is a research fellow studying mechanisms of neural plasticity during swarm-formation in the locust.

Tel: (01223) 36637
Email: sro21@cam.ac.uk

Steve Rogers

Steve Rogers

Steve Rogers is a research associate studying neuronal differences between the gregarious and the solitary phases of the desert locust.

Email: smr34@cam.ac.uk

Greg Sutton

Greg Sutton

Greg Sutton is a research fellow who is looking into how biomechanics and neural control interact to generate adaptive behaviours. As a model for fast behaviours he uses the locomotive jumping behaviours of the desert locust and of the froghopper.

Alice Witney

Alice Witney

Alice Witney is an advanced training fellow; her research uses experimental methods to examine movement control using both human studies and insect model systems.

Caroline Brighton

Caroline Brighton

Caroline Brighton is the senior research technician for Steve Rogers and Swidbert Ott. She manages the solitarious locust colony and investigates the behavioural phase change of the desert locust.

Anastasia Nezhentseva

Anastasia Nezhentseva

Anastasia's role is split between being the departmental research grants administrator and providing secretarial support for Malcolm Burrows' research group.

Joanna Riley

Joanna Riley

Joanna Riley is the senior research laboratory technician for Malcolm Burrows and the Neurobiology group. She assists in both experimental research and clerical work.
