Research Interests

I am interested in spatial patterns of biotic interactions and species richness, and how these may interrelate. Most of my work has been conducted in the West Indies focusing on spatial patterns of plant-pollinator interactions, especially interactions between assemblages of plants and hummingbirds. My current research focuses on two themes: 1) macroecological patterns of specialization in plant-hummingbird networks and other types of mutualistic networks; and 2) biogeographical patterns in the West Indies and Walleceae. I am particularly interested in determining whether historical or contemporary environmental factors drive spatial patterns of biotic interactions and biodiversity, and how biogeography may be used in conservation.

Collaboration

My main current collaborators are William Sutherland (University of Cambridge), David Wege (BirdLife International), Jens-Christian Svenning, Brody Sandel and Daniel W. Carstensen (University of Aarhus), Carsten Rahbek and Jon Fjeldså (University of Copenhagen). I am situated in the Conservation Science Group (University of Cambridge), and I am affiliated with Center for Macroecology, Evolution and Climate (University of Copenhagen). The project is funded by The Danish Council for Independent Research | Natural Sciences.
