Opportunities
Prospective Graduate students
For Ph.D. projects beginning October 2012/January 2013 we are particularly keen to find students interested in working on the evolutionary genetics of coloration in birds. Potential projects include genetics of melanin patterning, genetics of carotenoid coloration, and genetics of egg and chick coloration.
Research projects are also available in any of the other areas highlighted here, and projects in other areas of adaptive molecular evolution are also possible.
Funding: UK and EU students are eligible for Department of Zoology quota studentships from the Research Councils (NERC, BBSRC). These are obtained in an annual competition with other research groups (interviews in February/March). For EU students, to be eligible for University grants which support living costs, applications must be made by December 1st. We are able to fund the consumables costs of Ph.D. projects with existing grants.
Please contact Nick Mundy (nim21@cam.ac.uk) for further information.
