Research interests |
My research is concerned with the flight of pterosaurs - extinct flying
reptiles that were contemporaneous with the non-avian dinosaurs. I am
currently trying to understand the aerodynamic and mechanical behaviour
of pterosaur wings by carrying out wind tunnel experiments and free
flight tests on scale models. These models have to be as accurate as
possible, so a major thrust of my work is the search for exceptional
fossil specimens and the development of new techniques to reconstruct the
wings on the basis of such fossils. |
