After a degree, Ph.D. and extended postdoc in Cambridge, working on the physiology and fine structure (both standard and freeze fracture EM) of transporting epithelia, I became interested in epithelial development. As a result I switched my focus to Drosophila, though I still have an interest in the excretory systems of other Arthropods. The lab has moved with me to the Department of Anatomy in Oxford and then to the new Centre for Developmental Genetics in Sheffield. We returned to the Zoology Department in Cambridge in 2001. Outside the lab, family has filled my time, with music, walking and cooking struggling to get a look in. |
