Epigenetic stability during DNA replication and its role in cancer
Transmission of the epigenetic states is closely related to DNA replication. Altered inheritance of the epigenetic patterns during cell division can contribute to different diseases including cancer. We are interested in studying the role of PCNA (a key protein in DNA replication) in the maintenance of epigenetic stability and its potential impact in tumorigenesis. For this, we are using different approaches including biochemical purification of replication protein complexes, in vitro analysis of protein interactions by immunofluorescence and in vivo genetic analysis using Drosophila as a model system.
