Department of Zoology

Osteoblast cell-matrix adhesions visualized by overlapping vinculin (red) picture by Kathryn Gerl and actin (green); nuclei shown in blue.

Our department houses two confocal microscopes and high-performance computer workstations for image processing and analysis. Please contact Matt Wayland with queries about our microscopes, or  book a microscope and request training using the Microscopy Bioscience Platform booking system.

Our microscopes are part of the School of Biological Sciences Microscopy Bioscience Platform. All of the Platform's cutting-edge microscopy resources are available to all researchers in Zoology. The Microscopy team provides comprehensive support for the entire microscopy workflow, including helping design your experiment, train you in using microscopes, assisting you in developing new techniques and helping to interpret your images.

The Platform is also open to users from other Schools within the University of Cambridge, external academics and industry.
