Department of Zoology

I am a Ph.D. student in the Walter Federle's Insect Biomechanics lab studying how insects use their claws to cling to plant surfaces. In particular I am interested in understanding how wax-running Crematogaster ants walk freely on the slippery stems of their mutualistic host plant the Macaranga tree.

My research is funded by The Claire Barnes 150th Anniversary Studentships in Zoology.
