Department of Zoology

Open Air Alumni Day: Saturday 5 September 2020

Spend the afternoon with us at Cavenham Heath Nature Reserve

Since the Department may not be fully open for visitors in September, we are hoping to hold our annual departmental Alumni Day out in the field. Professor Bill Sutherland, Dr Lynn Dicks and Dr William Foster will lead participants on a field trip at Cavenham Heath National Nature Reserve which is in the Suffolk Breckland about 25 miles NE of Cambridge.

As you can see by the delightful painting by Carry Ackroyd the reserve is a unique slice of the Suffolk countryside.

Heathland is an ancient and beautiful part of our heritage, and the Breckland provides one of the best surviving examples in the whole of the British Isles. It is the home of rare and celebrated animals and plants, and its complex and intricate ecology has been studied by generations of Cambridge biologists. Many alumni will remember field trips there run by members of the departments of Zoology and Botany.

We are hoping that by this date, regulations will allow meetings of this type, but for time being if you are interested in taking part, please do register your interest below.  We will contact you with further details at the end of July.

The Department of Zoology will hold your email address solely for the purposes of this outing.  We are committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about what information we hold.  We will not pass on information about you to third parties.  Please read our full data protection statement at: alumni.cam.ac.uk/data-protection
