Establishing academic careers for the Zoologists of tomorrow
University Teaching Officers (Lecturers, Readers and Professors) are established research scientists, who are responsible for delivering the research output of the Department, as well as passing on their knowledge and enthusiasm through teaching.
By offering independently funded established academic posts in the Department we can attract new researchers here and enable our most talented researchers to stay, so that both groups of scientists can pursue their brilliant ideas here in the Department of Zoology.
Scientists currently working in the Department, whose established posts are independently funded, include:
James Herbert-Read - Whitten Lecturer in Marine Biology
Eske Willerslev - Prince Philip Professor of Ecology and Evolution
Claire Spottiswoode - Hans Gadow Lecturer
Bill Sutherland - Miriam Rothschild Professor of Conservation Biology
