Research

Julia Jones is professor of conservation at Bangor University and the Prince Bernhard Chair of International Nature Conservation at Utrecht University. Her research focuses on the question: ‘Is conservation working?’. She is working with colleagues in the Department of Zoology, specifically the Conservation Science Group and with Conservation Evidence, as well as with colleagues across CCI to identify opportunities for more and better impact evaluations in conservation. This involves both ex-post evaluations with existing (almost inevitably flawed) designs and data, but also finding opportunities to design interventions and data collection in parallel to allow a clearer understanding or if and how conservation is working (and if not, why and what can be done?).
