Department of Zoology

I am a PhD student working with Black Soldier Flies (BSF) in the Insect Evolution andGenomics Group. My current research focuses on utilising the piggyBac transposonsystem and DIPA-CRISPR transgenic method to manipulate gene expression in BSF.

My past Master's research focused on the role of artificial selection for improving theegg production of this industrially relevant species. I also investigated novel techniquesfor cryogenics and developmental arrest in BSF. I studied Biological Natural Sciencesduring my undergraduate degree at the University of Cambridge, specialising inevolution, ecology and conservation where I graduated with a strong first-class result, ranking third in my year.
