Visa, immigration, etc.

For all things visa and immigration-related, check out the University human resources website. Also, get in touch with Anastasia Nezhentseva who deals with these matters in the department (an286@cam.ac.uk). To note that the University has a Skilled Worker visa loan scheme.

Health insurance in the UK

If you haven’t lived in the UK before, familiarise yourself with its health insurance system here and/or here.

National insurance number

If you haven’t worked in the UK before, find out about the national insurance number (for all things tax-related) here.

Accommodation

If you are looking for a place to stay while you are in Cambridge, check out the University’s accommodation services. You can get access to their services before you physically arrive in Cambridge by registering yourself and having your PI confirm your eligibility. They have some useful information here on living in Cambridge. The University has a Rental Deposit Loan scheme that you can take advantage of.
