We are delighted to share the news that Dr Eleanor Bladon, who is a postdoctoral research associate here in Zoology, has been awarded the Pathway to Independence Fellowship in Ecology and Conservation Biology at Clare College.

The position drew over 50 high calibre applications internationally, and six applicants were shortlisted for interview.

Dr Bladon will take up her new position in October and will be based in Professor Christine Miller’s lab and at Clare College. Her research will focus on bugs and will investigate how anthropogenic environmental change affects their social behaviour and how their social behaviour can adapt and evolve to ameliorate the effects of environmental change.

Professor Rebecca Kilner, Head of the Department of Zoology said, ‘It’s great that Ellie can continue her contributions to our community as a more senior colleague and we look forward to hearing about what she discovers.’

‘I am delighted and honoured to be the first recipient of this fellowship,’ said Dr Bladon. ‘I’m excited to join the thriving community at Clare while continuing to be immersed in the dynamic research environment in Zoology.’

Dr Toby Wilkinson, Bursar of Clare College, said, ‘The College is very grateful to the generous donors who have made possible this Pathway to Independence Fellowship, which represents a new model of collaboration between the College and a University department. We look forward to welcoming Dr Bladon into the Fellowship, and to her contributions to teaching, learning and research as a member of the Clare community.’
