We are delighted to report that Professor Ron Laskey FRS CBE FMedSci FLSW has recently been admitted as an Officer of the French National Order of Merit (Ordre national du Mérite).

This honour has been awarded to Ron for his remarkable career as the Charles Darwin Professor at the University of Cambridge and for his important engagement with French Science.

Half the members of this Order, which was established in 1963, must be women. Previous non-French holders include Queen Camilla, Sir John Barbirolli, and the Empress of Japan.

Professor Laskey received his award on Monday, 29th January, in a small ceremony at La Maison Francaise d’Oxford. The medal was presented by Professor Hugues de Thé, Professor of Molecular Oncology at the College de France.
