Biography
I am a PhD (Probationary) student with the Vertebrate Palaeontology Group in the Department of Zoology. My research investigates the evolution, palaeoecology, biogeography, and extinction of Stegodon, an extinct genus of proboscideans and close relatives of modern elephants.
My previous work has focused on the field collection, morphological study of cranio-dental specimens, and taxonomic revision of fossil vertebrates from the Philippines, particularly the Pleistocene faunas of Luzon Island, with an emphasis on fossil mammals (mostly proboscideans).
Trained broadly as a geologist, I obtained both my BS and MS degrees in Geology from the University of the Philippines, where I also served as an Instructor. I taught lecture and laboratory courses in introductory geology, stratigraphy and sedimentology, palaeontology, and Earth history, and participated in leading field courses.
