I am a PhD student working with Black Soldier Flies (BSF) in the Insect Evolution and Genomics Group. My current research focuses on utilising the piggyBac transposon system and DIPA-CRISPR transgenic method to manipulate gene expression in BSF.
My past Master's research focused on the role of artificial selection for improving the egg production of this industrially relevant species. I also investigated novel techniques for cryogenics and developmental arrest in BSF. I studied Biological Natural Sciences during my undergraduate degree at the University of Cambridge, specialising in evolution, ecology and conservation where I graduated with a strong first-class result, ranking third in my year.
