Insect biomass shows promise in improving our threatend global food security. My research focuses on the genomics of the Black Soldier Fly (BSF; Hermetia illucens, L.) and its importance on the world stage as a sustainable food source. Working with agri-tech company, Entomics we aim to close the circular bioeconomy using sustainable BSF realted solutions.

Firstly I am interested in understanding this globally farmed insect and the role it plays not just in commercial settings but in the natural environment and how increased farming of this insect may influence the genomic architecture of intensively bred populations. I am also interested in describing the global diveristy of this widely distibuted species, how they have evolved and how they may fulfill particlar niches in farming practices.
