Museum of Zoology invites visitors to chat to specimens in novel AI experiment
Specimens in the Museum are being brought to life through the power of Artificial Intelligence, in a project aiming to strengthen our connection with the natural world and reverse apathy towards biodiversity loss. We’ve teamed up with Nature Perspectives, an organisation founded by graduates of the Masters in Conservation Leadership, which is based in the DAB, to run an experiment into how museums can use generative AI to give a voice to objects on display. We hope to learn what visitors want to know about the animals they meet here, and whether having a conversation with them – from the specimens’ perspective –allows them to feel more engaged with these species. The project has received good news coverage so far, including this piece in The Guardian. Come down to the Museum before the 15th November and give it a go.
