Department of Zoology

Sydney Brenner, the 2002 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine winner died last month. He was a colleague and friend of several members of the Department.

In 1969 Dr Peter Lawrence, MRC Emeritus  Scientist now based here in the Department, was recruited by Brenner and Francis Crick and he worked with them for many years.  Peter has written an article, "not a standard obituary", on Sydney Brenner's scientific life, his influence on others and "the course of biological research itself".  The article Sydney Brenner: a master of science and of wit appears in this month's Development.
