According to Peter Lawrence, this book is more thrilling than a James Bond novel!  Peter’s review of this book is in the latest edition of Current Biology Magazine.  Thankfully, however, there are no villains in this accessible, scientific story just the overriding notion at the start that a vaccine could not be given the all-clear for use in less than two or three years. No other vaccine had ever done that before.

In reviewing the book, which tells the story of the 10 months and 8 days it took one company to develop a Covid-19 vaccine, Peter also highlights the changes in the lives of scientists over the last 50 years. In particular, he believes that biomedical companies rather than academia now allow for some imaginative scientists to make new and exciting discoveries for the benefit of the world.
