Research Interests

Neuronal plasticity is the basis of learning and memory. Changes in activity levels lead to changes in intrinsic excitability, as well as the structure and organisation of synapses in the nervous system. Recent work has shown that reactive oxygen species (ROS) act as signalling molecules in the nervous system, and are critical for activity-dependent adjustments in synaptic connections. My project will explore the role of ROS on structural synaptic plasticity in the central nervous system using D. melanogaster as a model organism.
